“The Road” taken with Cormac McCarthy

Cormac McCarthy’s “The Road” is a father and son love story, goodness preserved despite little hope in the future. Oddly, I began reading this before driving through the area where it’s based (Southeast) and finished it walking with Elias (Golden Gate Park). I couldn’t help but imagine what it would be like for the two of us.

Excerpt:

No lists of things to be done. The day providential to itself. The hour. There is no later. This is later. All things of grace and beauty such that one holds them to one’s heart have a common provenance in pain. Their birth in grief and ashes. So, he whispered to the sleeping boy. I have you.

“The Road” will leave you looking at your kids and yourself differently, moving you to “carry the fire” in a way we all should, but one special to you and the little ones you love.

New site! Comments?

Finally, a “real” Web site.

I’ve always had grand intentions of setting up my personal site/portfolio in a more interactive, blog format, and finally, here we go. As we move into a new, exciting year, I plan to write and share more. I figure this new format will be the impetus for doing so.

Two questions for you:

  • Comments on the design?
  • What should I talk about?
